At the age of 18, musician Ryan 'Gooch' Nelson was paralyzed in a terrible car accident. In the decade since, he developed special techniques for playing the guitar with his physical limitations. In October 2014, Gooch started working with 9-time-Grammy-Award-winning producer Joe 'the Butcher' Nicolo to produce his new band's first album.
The Motion: Gooch’s Journey tells Gooch’s story beginning with his accident and ending with the release of his first album. The movie shows how Gooch’s diligence, creativity, and perseverance took him from lying in a hospital bed to playing sold-out shows and recording an album with a legendary music producer.
Self described as ‘rusted-dirt’, Gooch’s music looks toward the future by fusing a number of different genres–including rock, country, blues, and hip hop–into cohesive and moving songs. From the blues to folk to rock to hip hop to country, Gooch does it all. His passion, love and medicinal usages of music and for conveying his thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc. are portrayed via the genre that’s most appropriate.
